Nat & Zach’s Cozy, Rainy, Falcon Trails Resort Wedding

If you’re a fan of rainy micro-weddings featuring personal details inspired by the location, you’re in the right place. Nat and Zach’s Falcon Lake wedding was nestled in cabins on the lake. 30 of their closest people joined them to celebrate their wedding with heartfelt toasts, incredible food from the Hoagie Boyz themselves, and a lot of laughter. In case you’re wondering, yes, the sun came out just in time for their ceremony on the dock.

A Rainy Falcon Trails Resort Backdrop

While Rob partied it up in Montreal (a blog post for another time), Jensen was on her way to spend a weekend in the coziest way possible: a Falcon Lake wedding at Falcon Trails Resort and a couple nights in Kenora. Nat and Zach had a vision of keeping their day relaxed and full of personal touches. From the lazo ceremony, to the small guest list, to one of their favourite Winnipeg restaurants delivering incredible food, there was so much love and care put into this day.

Jensen was welcomed into the family like she’s always been part. Having hot chocolate by the fire with Nat’s aunt, lending countless umbrellas to the wedding party (there’s always a huge stock in the trunk of her car), and hanging out at the reception well into the evening. The hot chocolate was to die for, handmade, and kept warm in a huge pot over the stove all night.

Moody Cabin Heaven

Friends and family all stayed in cabins on the Falcon Lake property. The ceremony and reception were both held in the largest cabin on site, which served as the perfect location. The pine trees hugged huge harvest tables out back for dinner. The smell of pine permeated the air. The decor, featuring stone, wood, and green and cream hues, popped perfectly against the trees, which were turning vibrant shades of orange and yellow in the fall season. The rain sprinkling over the outdoor setup didn’t stop the candles from casting a beautiful glow on everything as the sun went down.

A Ceremony On The Lake

The rain held up long enough for Nat & Zach to have their dock ceremony, shoulders to the lake stretching out for miles. The calm, foggy waters rippled as they said their vows, teary-eyed friends and family looking on. Jensen’s a crier at weddings, and the heartfelt ceremony had her welling up. Nat and Zach has a lazo (lasso) ceremony, a traditional unity ceremony in Catholic Spanish and Mexican weddings. Close family or friends are often tasked with placing the lasso on the couple, with the figure eight representing an everlasting bond.

Post ceremony, guests enjoyed a MASSIVE charcuterie board, while Nat, Zach, and Jensen explored the forest around Falcon Trails Resort, hunting for sunbeams. The sun provided contrasty highlights and shadows in photos, making the colours of the trees even more vibrant.

We explored the forest and the beach, kicking off shoes for a much needed toe-in-grass break.

When It Rains It (Actually Doesn’t) Pour

Boy did we get lucky with the weather. Drizzly into the evening, guests were treated to cool temperatures to wind down the night. The drizzles didn’t stop the outdoor dinner and speeches, in fact, one might say the whole evening was enhanced. We enjoyed incredible eats from the chief Hoagie Boi himself, Nyck, who made a drop off all the way to Falcon Trails Resort from Winnipeg. The balcony of the main cabin was a stunning setting for speeches as the sun dipped low and the twinkle lights came on.

Once speeches and dances were complete, all that was left to do was enjoy dessert, hot chocolate, and a cozy bonfire. The best part? Zach and Nat changed into MATCHING WEDDING TRACKSUITS for maximum swag and cozy. 1000/10 idea.

They are wearing theie wedding clothes and the bride is wearing a coat, as the sun has gone down. The lights are warm and romantic, and they sit in a clearing of trees behind the cabin.
