We’re not like other photographers in Winnipeg Manitoba. We’re not even really “engagement session” people. We’re hang-out-and-make-memories people. Because stiff poses and awkward silences? NOT IT.
At Wildest Dreams Co., we realized real quick that an engagement shoot shouldn’t just be about checking a box. It should be about connection. Comfort. A little chaos (the good kind). So we ditched the pose-and-go. We swapped “stand here and smile” for lakeside beers, board games, bike rides, and yep—Rob giving up his pants for the colour palette.
And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Why We Don’t Put a Time Limit on Your Engagement Session (Yes, We’re Serious)
Most photographers in Winnipeg Manitoba will block off an hour. Maybe two. Pose a little, snap a little, call it a day. But that’s just not the vibe around here.
Because the truth is? The real magic—the stuff that makes you say “oh fuck, that’s so us”—doesn’t happen in 20 minutes or even an hour. It happens when we’re all a little sun-warmed, snack-happy, maybe slightly buzzed, and fully ourselves.
We don’t set a timer. We don’t rush good stories.
We don’t say no to one more round of cards, one more dip in the lake, one more “wait, this light is insane.”
Maybe that makes us a little wild. Maybe it’s “too much” to spend the whole weekend out at the lake with you.

THE VIBE: Cozy fall cabin + shotgun beers + final lake dip
THE WHERE: Falcon Lake, Manitoba
Since it is her family’s cabin, Lindsey decided to go the sentimental route and shoot their photos in a familiar spot—aka the perfect place for a weekend long hang.
THE WD CO. CORE MEMORIES™:
- Brandyn needed a more neutral tone for the colour palette they were going for, and Rob—icon that he is—gave him his pants. Our dedication to the vision truly knows no bounds.
- Rob made dinner and dessert (and wore THE apron). Jensen made breakfast in the morning.
- Maple the dog snuggled with Jensen all night.
- We shotgunned beers on the dock.
- We dove into the lake. It was cold. We still did it. Best time, and best photos.
- Brandyn tried to explain a board game while we were all stoned. We laughed until we cried.

These two chose their cabin because it’s their happy place—laid-back bike rides that turned into beach hangs and unhurried vibes all around. Jensen got her cardio chasing them down with a camera and then collapsed on the sand for a much-needed toe dip. It was one of those evenings where you lose track of time in the best way. No stress. Just the good stuff.

THE WHERE: Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba
Blaire & Dale’s engagement on the boardwalk will live rent-free in my head ‘til the end of time. They LOVE the carnival and knew it would be the perfect backdrop. We grabbed some carnival tickets and just ran with it. I (Jensen) even got on the ferris wheel even though I’m SO scared of ferris wheels. I made them ride the carousel so many times for the pics. Like, so many. They were literally stopped by strangers during the session for photo ops. ICONIC.
THE WD CO. CORE MEMORIES™:
- BLAIRE’S FUZZY SHOES. Blaire is literally Barbie and had the look to prove it.
- Jensen facing her ferris wheel fears.
- Blaire rode the giant slide IN HEELS. Dale matched the slide by accident. Fate?
- Dale’s shoes matched the slide by accident. Incredible.
- People literally stopped them on the street mid-session for photos.

Stephanie and Sean pulled up ready to SLAY. Steph showed up in heels like it was no big deal, and the whole vibe was very Vogue cover but out on a hike. LEGENDS.

- Stephanie hiking in heels. No notes.
- We of course didn’t put a time cap on the session so we were able to wander around and find alllllll the nooks and crannies of Blueberry Rock and have a blast on the suspension bridge.
- Sean grabbing Stephanie’s boobs on the bridge. She printed it for the family Christmas card.
- We laughed our asses off the whole day.

THE VIBE: Cabin evening with cake, champagne… and a secret proposal
THE WHERE: Kenora, Ontario
Okay, so technically this was a proposal, but it felt like one of our signature engagement hangs in all the best ways. Keven popped the question at Leilah’s family cabin (YES, another family cabin—our fave, if you couldn’t tell).
THE WD CO. CORE MEMORIES™:
- Leilah definitely knew what was up because Keven made sure they weren’t in pyjamas all day. LMAOOO
- Jensen fully launched into a patch of poison ivy while hiding in the proposal spot and didn’t realize ‘til later because adrenaline.
- Peach the pup being the cutest.
- Dock hangs and chatting about life.
- The vibes in Kenora are always 10/10: good coffee, chill pace, cool little shops.
- Some post-session BTS for ya: Jensen fighting for her life and then drunk, and then ordering from Dominoes after the session.
